Job Description

Qualifications:

  • N3 - N4 Mechanical Engineering Certificate, Fitting & Machining and Mechanotechnology
  • Engineering Trade Certificate – Fitter Machinist/Turner (Section 13 or Section 26(D)(4)
  • Record of completion of apprenticeship/learnership
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience post completion of apprenticeship/learnership training
  • Minimum 3 consecutive years of experience in a supervisory/ management position in a production plant or mechanical engineering workshop
  • Valid motor vehicle driver license, minimum Code 08 (EB)
  • Occupational health fitness

 

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Computer literacy
  • Job planning and reporting in writing
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, in English
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to assess and report on the condition of machine components & plant equipment
  • Proficiency in operating a wide range of machine shop equipment, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, radial-arm drilling machine
  • Experience in implementing Health, Safety and Environmental standards and procedures
