Job Description

To manage and oversee the Business Unit to ensure profitability, growth, and operational efficiency through strategic planning, execution, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and commercial performance management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance and Support:

  • Implement brand awareness initiatives in alignment with marketing strategies.
  • Monitor and manage regional sales performance and claim rates.
  • Support Business Representatives by evaluating sales techniques and providing guidance.
  • Oversee customer visit schedules to assess service levels and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Manage relationships with channel partners, distributors, and regional service centres, ensuring compliance with agreed standards.

Business Development and Growth:

  • Develop and implement strategies to support sales retention and growth targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, channel expansions, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Analyse market share trends and develop action plans to increase footprint and competitiveness.
  • Recommend product enhancements to improve market positioning.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor the regional risk register and implement mitigation actions.
  • Address internal/external audit findings through corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and safety, quality, and performance standards.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and effectively to maintain service excellence.
  • Provide guidance to management on stakeholder matters and maintain compliance with SLAs.

People Management:

  • Conduct performance appraisals and monitor progress against objectives.
  • Identify development needs and implement training and coaching interventions.
  • Manage employee relations matters fairly and timeously.
  • Ensure performance agreements are signed and cascaded effectively to team members.

Financial Management:

  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of regional budgets.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and report deviations.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to ensure resource efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing Management, or a related field (NQF 7).
  • Advantageous: Honours Degree in Sales or Marketing Management (NQF 8).

Experience:

  • 6–8 years’ experience in Sales and Marketing within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • At least 3 years in a Supervisory or Management role.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, SAP/ERP systems, and CRM platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of sales management processes, commercial reporting, and customer performance analytics.
