Job Description
The role oversees the development and maintenance of Revit frameworks, templates, and modelling standards tailored to civil and structural disciplines. It ensures accurate, efficient, and high-quality structural modelling across projects while coordinating workflows with multi-disciplinary teams. The position also plays a key role in driving technical excellence, standardisation, and continuous improvement within the organisation’s BIM environment.
Key responsibilities:
Structural Revit framework & technical development:
- Lead the setup, build, and ongoing development of the Revit framework for civil and structural engineering disciplines.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise structural Revit templates, families, connections, reinforcement libraries, parametric components, and discipline‑specific macros.
- Ensure consistent application of structural modelling standards, including modelling conventions, annotation standards, and documentation outputs.
- Drive continuous improvement of structural modelling workflows, detailing processes, and overall Revit project environment.
- Oversee integration of Revit with analysis tools (e.g., Robot, Prokon, ETABS, SAFE, or similar), where applicable
Team leadership & coordination:
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of structural Revit technicians/modellers and multi-disciplinary Revit users.
- Provide discipline-specific oversight for structural Revit deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with engineering intent.
- Coordinate BIM/Revit requirements with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other involved teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for structural Revit technical guidance, complex modelling queries, and best practices.
Training & support:
- Deliver Revit training focused on structural modelling, detailing, reinforcement workflows, and discipline-specific standards.
- Support onboarding and development of new users specialising in structural Revit work.
- Troubleshoot structural Revit issues, model performance concerns, and coordination challenges; propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
Quality, standards & model governance:
- Uphold and enforce structural Revit quality standards and ensure compliance across all work produced.
- Conduct model audits, clash reviews, QA/QC checks, and consistency assessments for structural deliverables.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve model accuracy, coordination, efficiency, and performance.
- Ensure that structural documentation generated from Revit meets project requirements, engineering standards, and industry best practice.
Key competencies:
- Advanced technical expertise in structural Revit modelling and documentation.
- Strong leadership and team mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
