Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Proposals Technician to support the technical and commercial preparation of tenders and quotations for mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects. This junior role is ideal for a technically minded individual with strong analytical skills and an interest in estimating, tendering, and project support within an engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse client specifications, tender documents, and M&E drawings (mechanical, piping, and electrical) to define project scope
• Perform accurate material and labour take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Source, obtain, and evaluate quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and specialist vendors
• Compile professional technical and commercial proposal documentation
• Identify technical and commercial risks and support mitigation planning
• Attend site surveys to assess existing conditions and constraints
• Manage tender timelines to ensure compliance with deadlines, margin requirements, and ISO standards

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant Trade Test with estimating experience
• 1–3 years’ experience in an M&E contractor, EPC, or engineering consultancy environment
• Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills; exposure to CAD readers or estimating software is advantageous
• Understanding of engineering standards (ISO, ASME, SANS, DIN) and H&S regulations
