Job Description
We are seeking a Materials Controller responsible for managing solar project inventory, including kit preparation, stock control, returns processing, delivery coordination, and warehouse compliance to ensure efficient project execution and inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Kit Preparation & Dispatch (40%)
- Accurate picking and packing of project BOMs
- Timely dispatch aligned with project calendars
- Identify and report low stock proactively
2. Stock Control & Inventory Management (20%)
- Accurate binning, labelling, and system updates
- Conduct monthly cycle counts and submit aging reports
- Ensure system and physical stock match
3. Returns Handling & Warranty Intake (20%)
- Process and log returned stock from projects
- Quarantine and tag faulty items for warranty
- Reconcile reusable vs scrap stock
- Maintain clear documentation for returns
4. Delivery Coordination & Communication (10%)
- Prepare dispatch notes and handover documentation
- Liaise with logistics on delivery timelines
- File and verify proof of delivery
- Gather feedback on delivery completeness
5. Warehouse Compliance & Housekeeping (10%)
- Weekly safety and housekeeping checks
- Maintain compliance in racking, fire lanes, and hazard zones
- Ensure internal SHEQ audit score ≥90%
Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) required
- Post-school certificate in logistics/inventory (advantageous)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in warehousing, stock control, or project logistics
- Experience in solar, electrical, or construction environments preferred
- Familiarity with PV components (e.g., inverters, batteries, cables) is an advantage
