Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Draughtsperson to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and updating technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in line with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Drawing Preparation:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and schematics using CAD software.
- Prepare layouts for electrical and instrumentation systems according to project specifications.
Design Support:
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to understand design objectives and project scope.
- Incorporate feedback into drawings and update designs as required.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all drawings comply with South African regulations, safety standards, and industry norms (e.g., SANS).
Documentation:
- Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions, and related documentation.
- Generate bills of materials and support project documentation as needed.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct accuracy checks to ensure drawings meet specifications and design criteria.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Draughting, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–7 years’ experience in electrical and instrumentation draughting.
- CAD or draughting certification.
- Bentley Systems MicroStation (Electrical) certification or experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools).
- Solid knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems and components.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
