Job Description
Redheads Engineering is assisting its client in the metals industry to find a suitable individual for the Control and Instrumentation Engineer permanent role. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes
Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Pr.Eng/Pr.Tech
▪ Relevant post graduate qualifications albeit technical, management or business related could be advantageous
Experience:
▪ Minimum of 5-year experience within the project engineering environment
▪ At least 2 years plant commissioning experience
Knowledge:
▪ PLC’s programming and fault diagnostics
▪ Instrumentation calibration and fault finding
▪ Instrumentation specification
▪ Control system specification
▪ Understanding of P&ID’s and PFD’s
▪ In depth understanding of networks and communication protocols
▪ Budgeting principles and control
Skills:
▪ Designing and developing new control systems
▪ Maintaining and modifying existing systems
▪ Managing operations
▪ Working collaboratively with design engineers, purchases and other internal staff
▪ Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities
▪ Project managing within cost and time constrained environments
▪ Troubleshooting and problem-solving
▪ Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards
▪ Writing computer software
▪ Commercial awareness
▪ Team leadership skills
▪ Listening to, interpreting and understanding feedback from clients and team members
▪ Interpersonal motivational skills
▪ Sound written and verbal communication skills
▪ The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Responsibilities:
▪ Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards
▪ Planning, design, specification, costing, procurement, reporting, construction, commissioning and handover on Electrical system packages
▪ Provide technical leadership to all dependent project disciplines
▪ Management of suppliers and sub-contractors
▪ Maintain the ECSA professional registration and manage own development
