We are seeking a Head of Department: Control Systems and Digitisation with a proven track record in leading engineering teams and delivering industrial automation solutions across diverse platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- Managerial Functions:

- Lead and manage the control systems engineering team
- Oversee project compliance with quality and safety standards
- Mentor and support engineers; oversee training and team development
- Ensure integration projects are delivered on time, within budget, and contractually aligned
- Coordinate interdepartmental service delivery and client interactions
- Track and report on project progress, safety, and quality
- Technical Functions:

- Design cost-effective control system solutions to meet client needs
- Develop detailed functional and system designs, including architectures and communication networks
- Program, test, and implement PLC, SCADA, HMI, and operational technology solutions
- Develop simulation tools for testing and training purposes
- Create project-specific quality plans and ensure adherence
- Provide post-project support, SLA services, and client training
- Ensure compliance with all design, implementation, and documentation standards
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or NQF-equivalent in Systems, Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering
- 5–10 years of experience in industrial automation
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project or team management
- Practical experience in control system design, development, testing, and commissioning
- Advanced PLC programming in at least two platforms: Siemens, Schneider, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Omron, Beckhoff, Mitsubishi
- Advanced SCADA development using two platforms such as: Aveva, Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell, Adroit
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL, Reporting Services, and relational database integration
- Exposure to MES, BMS, EMS (advantageous)
- Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, or Milling industries (advantageous)
