Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Engineer: Solar PV to lead engineering support across the design, construction, and operational phases of utility-scale solar PV projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge renewable energy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering aspects of solar PV projects across development, financial close, construction, and operations.
  • Coordinate external engineers, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget
  • Develop and apply technical due diligence and risk assessment frameworks during feasibility
  • Conduct PVSyst-based energy yield forecasts and support internal optimisation tools
  • Drive continuous improvement in documentation, tools, and procedures
  • Support procurement activities including technical evaluations and RFP processes
  • Lead technical negotiations with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare technical documentation including EPC contracts, schematics, manuals, and O&M plans
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations
  • Ensure construction aligns with technical specifications and resolve site technical queries
  • Solve complex engineering problems and support root cause investigations and fault analysis
  • Promote innovation and value engineering across all project phases

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 10+ years’ professional experience in utility-scale solar PV engineering
  • Working knowledge of wind, BESS, and high-voltage electrical infrastructure (beneficial)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVSyst, and MS Office suite (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
  • Familiar with South African codes, regulations, and grid requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with time and cost sensitivity
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical, methodical, and adaptable in solving technical challenges
  • Driven to contribute to clean energy solutions in a fast-paced environment
