Our esteemed client is a leading South African professional service enterprise specialising in planning, designing, and commissioning power transmission and distribution infrastructure within the Power Utilities and Renewable Energy sectors. We are currently seeking a dynamic and skilled Power Transmission and Distribution Engineer to join our client’s team in Roodepoort, Johannesburg. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, design, and execution of high-voltage power transmission and distribution projects, shaping the future of energy infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc Eng. or B. Eng.) from a recognised South African university.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Professional Registration: ECSA registration as a Candidate Electrical Engineer.

Related Minimum Experience:

• 2 to 4 years of post-qualification technical experience in electrical transmission and/or distribution, preferably within the power utility or renewable energy sector.
• Experience with Eskom Transmission and Distribution infrastructure design is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and design of HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure ranging from 33kV up to 765kV.
• Prepare engineering deliverables for electrical overhead power lines and/or substations.
• Conduct necessary calculations and studies, including power systems studies on utility and industrial/commercial power transmission and distribution systems.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and provide project administrative and coordination support.
• Participate in design reviews and assist in resolving technical queries from contractors.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and Quality Management System.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong communication and team-working skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with national and international engineering codes and standards.
• Analytical mindset with excellent self-management and leadership abilities.

Desired Additional Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficiency in software tools such as PLSCADD, Bentley Microstation, PSSE, Power Office, Retic Master, and MS Projects.
• Project administration and coordination skills.
